Meet Laura
I am the Director of Vocal Performance Centre, a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist, performer, and certified yoga instructor.
I have extensive experience in helping clients reach their communicative potential as a speech pathologist. I have completed additional training in voice therapy, singing, upper airway and breathing pattern disorders, and gender affirming voice training. When working with clients, I draw upon more than 25 years of experience and training in the performing arts as a singer, actor, and (questionable) dancer.
Since officially launching Laura Kennedy Speech Pathology in 2020, I have worked exclusively with adults and children with voice disorders or vocal concerns. This includes singers, actors, professional voice users (e.g., teachers), and other professionals who rely on their voice.
With a background in musical theatre and opera, I combine creativity and evidence-based practice to help performers reach optimal vocal performance.
It’s an absolute pleasure to offer voice training to gender diverse people, including peri-operative support to clients seeking voice feminisation/gender affirming vocal surgery.
I regularly lecture at a number of local Universities and provide professional development and workshops for various local and national companies.
Away from the clinic, I can be found at a theatre, the gym or out and about with my husband and two young daughters.
